New 138-25kV Distribution Substation
As the Electric Engineer for a municipal electric system client, Tangibl is planning and providing front-end engineering and design for a new 138-25kV distribution substation. The additional transformers will provide capacity to serve existing and future Town load due to commercial and residual development currently in planning and design phases with the Town. The additional feeders from the new substation will have provisions for automatic sectionalizing and backup with feeders from the existing substation to provide outside-plant fault locating, indication and service restoration. The project is progressing from planning to preliminary engineering including:
Tangibl is self-performing primary electrical and civil/structural front-end engineering and design, managing a civil subconsultant that provided a site survey and geotechnical assessment including core borings, and managing the engineering services arm of a major protective relay and control system supplier. The project’s current configuration is shown below but will be subject to change as engineering progresses.
In addition to major equipment procurement (power transformers, circuit breakers and walk-in switchgear E-house) Tangibl will oversee the substation packager and construction contractor.
