As the Electric Engineer for a municipal electric system client, Tangibl was asked to provide preliminary and detailed electric substation protection and control (P&C) and substation engineering for activating an available 25kV feeder position at its 138-25kV distribution substation. The new circuit supplied from this feeder position will provide additional capacity to serve existing and future Town load due to commercial and residual development currently in planning and design phases with the Town.
The new feeder required its existing open bay position to be built out to include a new circuit breaker, connections, line terminal and all associated foundations. An underground duct bank and conduit was installed for routing the outgoing cable from the line position to an existing utility vault inside the substation. Inside the station control house, the necessary protection and control equipment was installed in existing reserved space on the station switchboard. Finally, secondary and control cable was routed between the control house and breaker bay in the yard.
Tangibl prepared AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams and panel views, cable schedules, civil/structural analysis of the foundation, and pre-purchased the 25kV gas circuit breaker. An issue for bid (IFB) package was put together and an RFP process for construction, testing and commissioning was administered by the Tangibl engineering team. Construction observation was provided by Tangibl, and field changes were incorporated into as-built drawings.
